2024 Boys Basketball Finalists
Marquel Murray
Cape Central
After a breakout year a season ago, expectations were high for Marquel Murray and the Tigers. Murray continued to impress in 2023 with his elite passing and his jaw-dropping dunks as the Tigers finished the season with a record of 19-9. Murray also earned All-SEMO Conference Boys Team honors for his performance on the hardwood last season. Murray still has two seasons left with the Tigers and is sure to continue to impress.
Kole Deck
Jackson
With Blayne Harris injured to begin the 2023 season, the Indians needed someone to step up offensively. Deck answered the call in a massive way, seemingly carrying the Indians offensively for the duration of the season. Deck had a coming-out party, showing his ability to score from all areas of the floor, but most prominently his three-point shooting. Deck earned All-SEMO Conference Boys Team honors for his efforts in 2023 in helping lead Jackson to a 19-10 season.
Quamareous Farmer
Malden
Malden Green Wave basketball guard, senior Quamareous Farmer, was honored as Bootheel Conference Player of the Year and posted 16 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals per game this season. Known to his teammates and fans as "Q," Farmer was named to the Clarkton All-Tournament Team, the Bloomfield All-Tournament Team, Bootheel All-Conference Team and All-District 1 Team. Farmer helped the Green Wave achieve C3D1 championship runner up honors and a 21-6 record.
Jadis Jones
New Madrid County Central
The most dominant player in the state of Missouri, Jones led New Madrid County Central to its second consecutive Class 3 State Championship with staggering senior season statistics of 27.1 points, 12 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game. He also shot an impressive 63 percent from the field. His exceptional play earned him the titles of Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Show-Me Basketball. Jones, a two-time Semoball Boys' Basketball Athlete of the Year, will continue his career at Lindenwood University.
BJ Williamson
New Madrid County Central
Williamson, a dynamic athlete with exceptional talent, played a crucial role in NMCC’s back-to-back Class 3 State Championships. His all-around performance earned him All-State honors during his senior campaign, averaging 22.7 points, 3.6 steals, 3.2 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game. Williamson will continue his basketball journey at Garden City Community College.
Dontrez Williams
Sikeston
Williams cemented his legacy as a Sikeston legend with a stellar senior season. He averaged 22.6 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 3.4 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game, showcasing his all-around skills. His shooting efficiency was remarkable: 75 percent from the free-throw line, 47 made 3-pointers at a 33 percent clip and a 59 percent overall field goal percentage. William’s impact earned him All-State recognition and nominations for Missouri's Gatorade Player of the Year and Mr. Show-Me Basketball. Williams is signed to play college basketball at Abilene Christian University.
PJ Farmer
Sikeston
Farmer, a junior with exceptional all-around skills, earned All-State honors in Class 3. He was instrumental in Sikeston's SEMO Conference Championship titles and state tournament run, averaging 14.3 points, 7.9 assists, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game. His well-rounded performance has already attracted offers from Missouri, Ole Miss, SEMO, Northwestern State, and Missouri-Kansas City.
Ko'Terrion Owens
Charleston
Owens was a physical force on the court, a key contributor to Charleston's Class 3, District 2 Championship run. The senior’s stat line of 19.5 points, 8.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game reflects his dominance on both ends of the court.
Ross Peters
Kelly
Peters proved himself to be more than just a scorer this past season. As a junior, he led Kelly to a 21-6 record and was named the Scott-Mississippi Conference Player of the Year. Averaging 17.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while shooting an impressive 53 percent from the field, Peter’s all-around leadership and consistent contributions were vital in the Hawks’ success.
Landan Burchard
Puxico
Puxico’s Landan Burchard helped the Indians to a Class 2 District 3 Championship. He finished the season with 16 ppg, 2.6 rebounds, 3.5 assist, 2 steals, while shooting 85% from the free throw line, 42% from the three and 49% from the field.
He was named All state, All district, All conference, and to the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament All-Tournament team.
