2024 Girls Track and Field Finalists
Reagan Meyer
St. Vincent
Reagan Meyer was the brightest spot for St. Vincent on the track. The sophomore won the Class 2 state championship in two events. She won the 800-meter race with a time of 2:18.94, and the 1,600-meter race with a time of 5:16.61. Meyer also won the Class 2 Sectional 1 and District 1 titles in both events, as well as the district title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.67.
Angela Dobbins
Malden
The Class 2 District 1 Champion in four events, Dobbins capped off her season with a 1st place finish in the long jump at the State Championships with a leap of 5.62. She also tied for the SEMO Conference title in the high jump with a mark of 5-01.00.
Carlyanne Cossou
Chaffee
The freshman phenom from Chaffee had an incredible season qualifying for the State Track meet in four individual events where she finished 4th in the triple jump with a PR jump of 10.6m and 5th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.88. She also won first place in the 100-meter hurdles and triple jump at sectionals.
Emma Duenne
Notre Dame
Nobody in the Southeast Missouri area was better at the discus than Notre Dame’s Emma Duenne. The senior capped her track career with a third-place finish in the Class 3 state championships in the discus with a mark of 123-00.00. She also won the Class 3 District 1 title and finished third in the shot put in the Class 3 Sectional 1 meet to qualify for the state meet. Duenne was instrumental in Notre Dame placing third in the Class 3 championship meet for the first time in program history.
Amya Bills
New Madrid
The freshman phenom exploded onto the track and field scene this season, capturing three state titles in her debut performance at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Meet. Mills' remarkable weekend began with a victory in the long jump (5.90 meters), followed by gold medal performances in both the 100-meter dash (12.07 seconds) and 200 (25.14). She previously demonstrated her dominance at the SEMO Conference Meet, winning the 100, 200, and long jump. Mills' exceptional freshman season has solidified her as a rising star in Missouri track and field.
Jada Jones
Charleston
Jones delivered a strong showing at the MSHSAA Class 2 State Meet, placing seventh in the 100-meter dash and contributing to the success of the Bluejays' relay teams. She was part of the 4x200 team that finished fifth and the 4x100 team that placed sixth. Jones' speed was also on display earlier in the season at the SEMO Conference (East Division) Meet, where she earned second-place finishes in both the 100 and 200.
Abigail Spooler
Notre Dame
Nobody in the Southeast Missouri area was better at the pole vault than Notre Dame’s Abigail Spooler. The junior finished the season with a third-place finish in the Class 3 state championships in the pole vault with a mark of 10-11.50. She was also the Class 3 Sectional 1 champion in the pole vault. Spooler was instrumental in Notre Dame placing third in the Class 3 championship meet for the first time in program history.
Kennedy Zgaynor
Poplar Bluff
After placing fourth in last year’s state meet, senior Kennedy Zgaynor returned this year. Zgaynor won a district title in the javelin and finished 11th at state.
Blaire Riley
Kelly
Riley consistently launched herself to the top of the leaderboard in the javelin this season. She secured a third-place finish at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Meet with a throw of 121 feet and 2 inches, following an impressive first-place victory at the SEMO Conference (East Division) Meet, where she unleashed a throw of 124 feet, 3.25 inches.
