2024 Boys Swimming and Diving Finalists
Phineas Theall
Cape Central
Theall proved once again in 2023 why he is widely considered one of the top swimmers in the area. The junior won the Class 1 state championship in the 100-yard butterfly and also finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle. Theall’s nomination for the Boys Swimming Athlete of the Year gives him a chance to make it back-to-back wins as he won the award at the 2023 Semoball Awards.
Wade LaValle
Jackson
LaValle had a successful junior campaign in Fall 2023 as he helped lead the Jackson Indians to the Class 2 State Championships. LaValle was part of the 200-yard IM Relay that finished 24th in the state and he also finished 28th in the 200-yard Freestyle Race.
Kaiden Cracraft
Notre Dame
The freshman swimmer for the Notre Dame Bulldogs had quite the coming out party in 2023. Cracraft finished in 9th place in the 500-yard freestyle at the state championships, while also finishing 12th in the 200-yard freestyle. Cracraft’s impact was felt all season as he was also named Most Valuable Swimmer at the 2023 SEMO Conference Championship.
Carson Todd
Poplar Bluff
Todd set the standard for being an elite swimmer this season for the Mules. Todd broke four individual school records this season, including the 50 and 100 freestyle during the COMO Invitational in Columbia and the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke during the Springfield Invitational. He has also broken three school records as a member of the 200 medley relay and the 200 and 400 freestyle relay. Todd is the first boys swim athlete to qualify for state in four individual events and three relays.
Thomas Hasz
Saxony Lutheran
Hasz had a solid fall in 2023 where he finished 22nd in the 200-yard freestyle at the state championships. Hasz also posted the 29th best time of the year in the 100 fly with his performance at Westminster Christian Academy on Oct. 18, 2023. Just a junior in 2023-24, Hasz will return for his senior campaign and will look to lead the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders.
