2024 Girls Cross Country Finalists
Lauren Eftink
Notre Dame
Perhaps one of the best runners in the area, Lauren Eftink once again had a massive season. The senior finished 2nd at the Class 3 State Championships, finishing within three seconds of the win. Eftink’s performance was good enough to not only earn her an All-State Medal but also help the Bulldogs finish 10th as a team in Class 3.
Faith Rouggly
Woodland
Rouggly helped carry the Woodland Cardinals to a second-place team finish at the Class 2 State Championships. Rouggly ran a personal best time of 20:03.6 in the championships to finish 6th place individually. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Rouggly is this was just her sophomore campaign and in two attempts, already has two All-State Medals. Rouggly will certainly continue to have a hand in leading the Cardinals to new heights in 2024 and beyond.
Katelyn Nichols
East Carter
ast Carter sophomore Katelyn Nichols finished 13th in the Class 1 cross country state championships this fall in Columbia. She led all East Carter runners with a 21:04.5 time in the state championships. Nichols finished 2nd in the Class 1 District 1 championships with a time of 21:09.57 in Cape Girardeau. East Carter finished 3rd in the Class 1 state championships.
Aliyah Miller
East Carter
East Carter freshman Aliyah Miller finished 19th in the Class 1 cross country state championships this fall in Columbia. She was 2nd among East Carter runners with a 21:26.9 time in the state championships. Miller finished 6th in the Class 1 District 1 championships in Cape Girardeau with a time of 22:19.46. East Carter finished 3rd in the Class 1 state championships.
Annika Barks
Jackson
Annika Barks had a memorable junior season with the Jackson Indians. Barks finished 21st at the Class 5 State Championship meet with a time of 18:42.2 to set a new personal best. Barks’ time also earned her an All-State Medal in her first trip to the State Championships.
Presley Ridings
Woodland
Ridings earned an All-State Medal with her 21st-place finish at the Class 2 State Championships. Ridings made four consecutive state appearances in her time with the Cardinals to help lead the program. Perhaps no trip to state was sweeter for Ridings as not only did she earn her medal, but she also helped the Cardinals earn the 2nd-place team trophy, the first team trophy in the program’s history.
Myra Roth
Saxony Lutheran
Roth finally broke through at the State Championships for the Saxony Lutheran Crusaders. Roth was making her third appearance at the championships and she set a personal best with a time of 21:07.50 to finish 21st and earn an All-State Medal. Roth will look to make it back-to-back medals in 2024 when she returns and continues to lead the Crusaders’ cross-country program.
Ziah Been
Van Buren
Van Buren junior Ziah Been finished 25th in the Class 1 cross country state championships this fall in Columbia. She led Van Buren runners with a 21:35.9 time in the state championships. Been finished 4th in the Class 1 District 1 championships with a time of 21:09.57 in Cape Girardeau. Van Buren finished 6th in the Class 1 state championships.
Lily Coy
Notre Dame
Coy’s sophomore season was an impactful one for the Notre Dame Bulldogs. Coy burst onto the scene by finishing 26th at the Class 3 Championships to earn an All-State Medal while also setting a new personal best with a time of 19:49.1.
Logan Schiwitz
Scott City
Scott City senior Logan Schiwitz finished 23rd in the Class 2 cross country state championships this fall in Columbia. She led the trio of Scott City runners with a 21:00.3 time in the state championships. Schiwitz finished 6th in the Class 2 District 1 championships with a time of 21:19.90 in Cape Girardeau.
