2023 Softball Finalists

Handley McAtee

McAtee earned First Team All-State, All Class 2 District 1 and All Bootheel Conference honors this year. The underclassman pitcher had an ERA of 2.229 and struck out 156 batters after pitching a total of 119.1 innings this season. She allowed 92 hits and just 38 earned runs. On offense, McAtee had a batting average of .557 and an on-base percentage of .614. She managed 57 hits, 33 RBIs and 50 total runs. Kennett concluded its season with a winning 23-9 record.

Rachel Rommel

Rommel earned First Team All-State and All-District honors in Class 2 District 1 and was named to the All Bootheel Conference team. The senior catcher racked up a total of 40 runs, five home runs, 53 RBIs, 23 doubles and two triples. She secured a .620 batting average and an on-base percentage of .634. She also had a 1.000 fielding percentage. In Rommel's senior season, the Green Wave won the Class 2 District 1 championship and finished with a 17-11 record after falling in the state quarterfinals against West County.

Ashlynn Presley

Presley earned Class 1 First Team All-State, All Class 1 District 1 and First Team All Tri-County Conference honors this year. The senior catcher managed a .463 batting average after racking up 37 hits, four home runs, 53 runs and 44 RBIs. Also the 2023 Risco High School Valedictorian, Presley was a four year starter and earned All-State honors her junior year as well.

Molly Spane

The standout junior continued to build to her impressive high school resume with another spectacular season. Spane finished the season with a 10-5 overall record on the mound with a 2.526 ERA and 174 strikeouts over 97 innings of work. She also led the team in batting average (.463), on-base percentage (.570), slugging percentage (.825), hits (37), doubles (13), home runs (4) and RBIs (39).

Tori Stinnett

The senior did it all this past season and helped the Lady Eagles to their best season in recent memory. Stinnett led the team in batting average (.645), hits (49), on-base percentage (.707), slugging percentage (1.342), doubles (17), triples (6), home runs (8) and RBIs (46).

Maleigh Lemings

Lemings was named the Tri-County Conference Player of the Year and earned Class 1 All-State and All-District honors in Class 1 District 1. The junior short stop set two state records for the most RBIs in a season with a total of 71, as well as the most runs scored in a season with 69. Lemings had on-base percentage of .683 and a batting average of .617. Holcomb concluded the softball season with a 23-9 record that ended in a district championship loss to Risco.

Ainsley Burnett

A centerpiece of the Bulldogs lineup, Burnett was a big part of the run to the state tournament for Notre Dame. Burnett’s bat will be missed in 2024 by the Bulldogs as she graduated this year.

Kylie Walker

Walker was named Bootheel Conference Player of the Year and earned First Team All-State, All-District and All-Region honors. She managed a .761 batting average and a .797 on-base percentage with 51 total hits on the season. She racked up 15 home runs, 55 RBIs and 50 total runs while striking out just once this season. She also averaged a .984 fielding percentage.

Mallory Lemonds

A talented pitcher that led the Lady Hawks to a 24-10 overall record and a MSHSAA Class 2, District 1 Championship. The junior ended the year with a 13-7 mark on the mound with 86 strikeouts and a 2.541 ERA across 135 innings.

Dixie Cloud

Neelyville sophomore Dixie Cloud was a Class 1 First-Team All-State selection last fall and helped lead the Tigers to a district championship. Cloud also finished with 61 RBIs in 34 games, fifth-most in Missouri history for a season.
