Emilia Wunderlich
Jackson
After playing on a broken leg for most of the 2022 girls’ soccer season, Emilia Wunderlich had surgery last August to remove a tumor that broke her femur. She came back to lead the Jackson Indians to another district championship while earning 1st team All-District and All-Conference honors.
Chris Stone
Dexter
Dexter senior Chris Stone injured his ankle in the Bearcats' Class 4 Sectional loss to Central, then after his ankle was healed, contracted mono. Stone returned and competed in multiple events for the Dexter track & field team, including the 800-meters and a relay for the Bearcats.
Tyson Underwood
Scott City
Tyson Underwood tore his labrum in the first game of the football season. Yet after several hours of physical therapy, the Scott City running back managed to play all season and amass over 1,200 yards. He was named 1st team All-Conference, 1st team All-District and 1st team All-Region.
Tanner Pierce
Kennett
The senior quarterback sustained a neck injury in an October football game against Dexter which led to his absence in several of the remaining games of his final football season. After recuperating, Pierce went on to be the ace pitcher throughout Kennett's baseball season. With a 1.43 ERA and a .422 batting average striking out 63 batters, Pierce helped take the team to a state quarterfinal which led to a winning 22-9 record.
Ethan Graham
Kelly
Graham tore his patella last year at football. He came back and ran track at the 110-meter hurdles and 300m hurdles this year. He broke the school record for 110m hurdles and the Notre Dame track meet record for 110m hurdles. Graham placed 1st in every track meet he competed in the 110m hurdles.
