2017 Softball Finalists

Kylie Lane

The Tigers junior broke out as a dangerous threat in the batting order, as she batted .487 with 35 runs scored and seven doubles, and got on base at a .551 clip. Once she got on base, Lane was a terror, as she stole more bases than any other player in Southeast Missouri, snagging 45 bags on 47 attempts.

Alyssa Moore

Moore helped the Hawks nab the top seed in their district while hitting .427 — Kelly’s top offensive threat — with 20 RBIs, eight doubles and 25 stolen bases. Defensively, she was a critical piece in the infield, as the second baseman made only three errors all season while showing range and a strong arm.

Hannah Criswell

It was more of the same for the Indians’ backstop and repeat Semoball Awards finalist, as Criswell hit .519 with a jaw-dropping 47 RBIs and 46 runs scored to push her team to Class 1 state this spring. She got on base better than 60 percent of the time and rapped seven doubles and 15 home runs, the best number in the region. She was the Bootheel Conference Player of the Year, hit a walk-off home run in the sectional this season and has been named Class 1 All-State all four years of her high school career.  

Madison Landeros

Coming off a 2016 season that earned her a nod as a Semoball Awards nominee, Landeros improved her numbers across the board in 2017. The shortstop hit .521 with 42 runs batted in and 33 scored, compiling 14 doubles and a school-record six triples. With multiple All-State honors already on her resume, Landeros helped the Bulldogs back to Class 3 state and a third-place finish.

Abby Rollet

The Bulldogs’ return to the final four was in no small part due to contributions from Rollet, who emerged as a power-hitting threat in the middle of the lineup. The senior outfielder capped off her high school career by hitting .426 with 43 RBIs. Rollet’s .894 slugging percentage saw her knock 12 doubles and a school-record 10 home runs.

Shelby Sievers

After setting multiple school records a year ago, Sievers is back to contend for Semoball Awards softball honors. In 2017, the versatile threat hit .507 with 26 RBIs and a 1.484 on base + slugging percentage. She hit 11 doubles and five home runs. In the pitcher’s circle, Sievers paced the Mules with a 2.10 ERA and 8-3 record while striking out 60 batters and walking just 17.  

Gracie King

The Mules’ catcher helped anchor her team’s defense from behind the plate, throwing out nearly 50 percent of the runners who tried to steal on her. On offense, she was a steady force with a .469 batting average and 29 runs driven in. She hit eight doubles and three home runs.

Jamie Glastetter

No player in Southeast Missouri posted a higher batting average than Glastetter’s .618, as she helped the Rams to a Class 1 quarterfinal appearance this spring. She struck out just two times all season while posting a .704 on-base percentage — accounting for just 12 outs all year. She hit seven doubles and seven home runs, including some clutch bombs in the postseason. As a pitcher, the senior went 9-2 with a 2.64 ERA in 58 ⅓ innings pitched, striking out 69 batters. Scott City’s valedictorian was also the Scott-Mississippi Conference Player of the Year.

Summer Shockley

Shockley, a three-time SBA softball finalist, was a difference-maker on both sides of the ball for the fall-season Class 1 state-champion Bulldogs. She hit .564 on the year with 44 RBIs, 35 runs scored, a .982 slugging percentage, 14 doubles, five triples and five home runs. In the pitcher’s circle, Shockley went 16-5 with awe-inspiring stats: a 0.39 ERA and 226 strikeouts. She threw back-to-back no-hitters in the sectional and quarterfinal rounds of the postseason and threw four no-hitters on the season.

Jenny Morey

The junior shortstop was one of her team’s most dangerous offensive threats en route to a state title. Morey hit .571 with 32 runs scored, a .518 on-base percentage, .920 slugging percentage, seven doubles and three triples. Morey earned first-team All-Conference, All-District and All-State recognition.
