2016 Softball Finalists

Sydney Walker

Thrown right into the mix on a team good enough to finish third in Class 1 in the fall season, Walker was a first-team all-state and all-region pick as a shortstop for the Red Devils. She batted .414 with 22 RBIs and 22 runs scored, with 12 doubles and a pair of triples.

Sophie Wunderlich

The Indians named Wunderlich their Most Outstanding Player in the fall season, and she was named All-District, All-Conference and All-Region. Wunderlich hit .435 with five doubles and a pair of triples, and in the pitcher’s circle she posted a 1.40 ERA with 70 strikeouts.

Hannah Criswell

The junior backstop was a force for the 20-2 Indians, batting .513 with 49 RBIs, 29 runs scored and a .924 slugging percentage (14 doubles, five triples and 10 home runs). She did not commit a single error all season as Kennett made a run back to a Class 1 quarterfinal this spring.

Lana Reed

The Green Wave made their first-ever run to state in the spring season, finishing third. A big part of that was Reed, as the catcher hit .538 with 35 runs batted in and an area-best .727 OBP. She had seven doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 23 stolen bases.

Morgan Duschell

On a deep team that finished as the Class 3 state runner-up in the fall, Duschell stood out defensively and offensively. The catcher hit .495 with 24 RBIs and 36 runs scored, with five doubles, three triples and 15 stolen bases. She was a first-team All-State selection.

Madison Landeros

The young shortstop batted .476 with 27 RBIs and 30 runs scored while showing gap power — 12 doubles and six home runs. She also stole 13 bases and was a second-team All-State pick for the Class 4 runners-up.

Shelby Sievers

It was quite a season for Sievers, who broke Mule single-season records for hits, RBIs and extra-base hits. She hit .543 with 34 RBIs, an astronomical 29 doulbes, five triples and four home runs. In the pitcher’s circle she threw more than 100 innings, with a 1.93 ERA, 105 Ks and just 30 walks.

Taylor Tiffany

The reigning Semoball Softball Player of the Year is back at it. Tiffany hit .421 with eight doubles, three triples and five stolen bases, but her legacy remains in the pitching circle, where she went 25-4 with a 0.42 ERA and 404 strikeouts — the only pitcher in Missouri history to top the 400 mark. She broke her own single-season K record and was a first-team All-State pick.

Kaileigh Dirden

Direden burst onto the scene this spring, helping to lift an already talented Rams team to a district title. She hit an area best .623 with 51 RBIs while setting a new state single-season record with 16 home runs. As a pitcher, Dirden was 19-2 with a 1.40 ERA and 180 strikeouts.

Summer Shockley

Shockley reached base nearly 75 percent of the time for a team that won more than 40 games in the combined fall and spring seasons. She hit .485 in that time with 85 total RBIs, 17 doubles and nine home runs. In the circle she maintained a 1.26 ERA with 365 total Ks.
