2023 Girls Track and Field Finalists
Breah Morris
Richland
Richland senior Breah Morris took home the state championship in the 100-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and also took home a title in the long jump with a distance of 17-01.25. Her 30 points at the state meet placed Richland fifth overall.
Angela Dobbins
Malden
The Malden junior took third place in the Girls 100 Meter Dash in the MSHSAA Class 2 State Championships. She also won seventh place in both the Girls High Jump and Girls Long Jump events, and she was a part of the 4x100 Meter Relay team that won sixth place at state. She was named SEMO Conference Overall Female Athlete and was SEMO East Conference Champion in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, High Jump and Long Jump. This season, Dobbins helped lead Malden girls to the program's first-ever district championship.
Lauren Eftink
Notre Dame
The junior took home the gold in the 800-meter run, the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run while also helping the Bulldogs finish the 4x400 relay in first place at the SEMO Conference Meet. Eftink was also named SEMO Conference All-Division Meet Most Valuable Track Performer.
Kirsten Fairhurst
Sikeston
The Lady Bulldog senior finished sixth in the long jump and was a member of the 4x100 relay team that placed seventh at the MSHSAA Class 4 State Meet.
Kennedy Zgaynor
Poplar Bluff
Poplar Bluff junior Kennedy Zgaynor finished fourth in the Class 5 Girls Javelin with a distance of 128-03 as she also earned all-state accolades. Zgaynor also finished fourth in the Class 5 Sectionals at PBHS.
Ki Bogan
Cape Central
Bogan was a part of the 4x100 and the 4x200 relay that earned a trip to the Class 4 State Championships. The 4x100 relay finished sixth in class 4 and the 4x200 relay finished sixth as well. Bogan also earned a trip to state in the triple jump and she finished 11th in class 4.
Elle Vancil
Kennett
Vancil finished in eighth place in the Girls Discus Throw at the MSHSAA Class 3 State Championships in her senior year. In sectionals, Vancil placed second in the discus to earn her spot at the state championship. During the regular season, Vancil also competed in the Girls Shot Put and Javelin Throw events.
Claire Nichols
Charleston
The Lady Bluejays’ senior ended her high school career with a fifth-place finish in the javelin at the MSHSAA Class 2 State Meet.
Lillian Gibbs
Jackson
Gibbs is a two-time state qualifier in both javelin and discus. She won the individual Class 5 Sectional 1 Championship in both events, which gives her two sectional championships in discus. Gibbs will continue her career at Indiana State University.
Reese Steward
Sikeston
The senior finished ninth in the long jump and was a member of the 4x100 relay team that placed seventh at the MSHSAA Class 4 State Meet.
