2018 Wrestling Finalists

Travis Waldner

Waldner broke out as a sophomore and showed he will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. The Bearcat 126-pounder went 45-5 on the season, finished third at the Class 2 State Championships and won his weight class at the SEMO Conference Tournament. He also was second at the Tiger Classic.

Alec Bailey

The Indians sophomore may compete at just 106 pounds, but he packed a punch. Bailey went 46-10 on the year, earning a Class 4 all-state finish by landing fifth at state. He was also a SEMO Conference champion and a Tiger Classic winner in his weight class.

Braden Vaugier

An elder statesman by this year’s finalist standards, Vaugier won more bouts than anyone else in the area, going 48-11. The 138-pounder fell in a consolation quarterfinal at the Class 4 state tournament, finished second in his weight class at the conference tournament and was third at the Tiger Classic

Trevon Lemons

Also a Semoball Awards finalist on the football field, Lemons won a district championship at 285 pounds to earn a second consecutive trip to the Class 2 State Championships, where he capped a 20-6 season with an all-state fifth-place finish.

Landan Griggs

The lone senior on this list stepped up in his final highschool season, going 38-7 at 195 pounds for the Bulldogs. He earned a trip to the Class 3 state tournament, where he lost in the second round of wrestlebacks. Griggs finished second in his weight class at both the SEMO Conference Tournament and the Tiger Classic.
